Dear Parents & Students,
We have completed another successful week of ESL class! This week, we introduced our Poem of the Week and some of our Grade 5 students had an impromptu lesson on weather vocabulary when it began to hail!
The Purple Home folders went home today, please take some time on the weekend to review the material inside and return the folder on Monday. The homework for this week includes:
Reflection Letters (Due Monday): Show the letter to a parent/guardian and have them respond (or sign showing that it has been read), please return in the Purple Folder on Monday
Classroom Information Form (Due Monday): Please complete the yellow form, and return with the Purple Folder on Monday
Math Sheet (Due Thursday): Please complete both sides of the math sheet and return by Thursday. We will be comparing and ordering numbers in class this week, so if you child does not understand it yet, we will cover it in class.
Reading (Due Thursday): On Monday, I will be asking students to start reading 5-10 minutes each evening. This week, they will have to read 1 book (next week, it will be to 2, working our way up to 4/week)
I understand that each family's schedules will be different, with some of us being busier on the weekends, and others busier during the week. My hope is that by giving all the homework on Friday, you will be able to choose the best times to complete all the various tasks. Eventually, students will have 4 tasks each week: Math, Reading, Writing and Discussions/Talk Tasks.
If you have any questions about our homework program, or any concerns, please feel free to contact me via email or phone.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Love,
Mrs. Kwong
